The Charleston Battery and the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) are looking for a Sports Performance Specialist, come join the team!
Job Description:
Under indirect supervision, the Health, Wellness, and Human Performance Integrated Center of Clinical Excellence (ICCE), or the Health and Wellness Institute, Sports Performance Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of exercise and human performance programs for the newly established Health and Wellness Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and the Charleston Battery soccer team.
Credentialed as an Exercise and Sports Performance professional, the Sports Performance Specialist will be responsible for direct delivery of exercise and human performance services and program development in accordance with community partner’s needs, coordination of care delivery between internal and external system partners, and expanding exercise and human performance services.
The full-time Sports Performance Specialist will be accountable for the development of evidence-based, sustainable programs and will play a significant role within the Exercise pillar, or department, of the MUSC Health and Wellness Institute.
Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry &/or Certifications)
Strength and Conditioning from NSCA or NASM or equivalent certification is required. Exercise physiologist, and/or Personal Training certification preferred. Relevant experience in training of elite athletes in sports medicine is preferred. Requisite knowledge of using data and analytics to create a sports performance training program is required. Knowledge of GPS Tracking software, Velocity-based training, and workload management are desired.
Ability to see the overall picture of the department/role and anticipate needs and think ahead when developing and establishing programs; ability to work efficiently and effectively with staff and administration of the Health and Wellness Institute; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required; relationship management and client services skills; ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making and planning; professional maturity; schedule flexibility and proficiency in virtual platforms to deliver services; and ability to work with individuals in a tactful diplomatic manner that enhances the image of the office.
- Identify exercise and fitness deficiencies existing in the community & develop exercise initiatives to meet these needs
- Develop and implement data driven and sport specific exercise programs to Charleston Battery Soccer team and potential clients (i.e. High school or professional athletes) (Golf, tennis/racquet sports, endurance sports)
- Coordinate, develop, and implement outreach strength and conditioning programs with local school and club teams, as well as 1:1 or small group strength and conditioning programs on site at Health and Wellness Institute.

Key Responsibilities:
- Presence/promoting the Battery at community events, watch parties, player appearances, expos, youth tournaments, merch truck events, online/social media and more.
- Engaging in conversations and working with the public, using tools and training provided by Charleston Battery.
- Tasked with creatively getting the word out to the wide-reaching community via events, in-person interactions and more.
- Help identify new markets and opportunities to expand the club’s presence in the community
- Generate new fan email lists, organize giveaways/promotions, and other lead-focused activities as assigned
How This Role Affects the Team’s Success:
Your high energy and enthusiasm will help to get the word out about Charleston Battery and aid in our overall marketing efforts. You are helping us to be everywhere, all the time. This role informs the public about our products, services, and special campaigns in ways digital and traditional media can’t do.

- Experience in campaigns, promotions, and event tabling

We are currently seeking a new member to join our Sales team. This position is responsible for generating leads for the end-to-end ticket sales process and further developing, maintaining, and increasing Season Ticket Sales, Partial Season Ticket Sales, and Group Ticket Sales with a strong focus on relationship sales and customer retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Make an average of 75+ contacts per day by phone call, email, social, and face-to-face meetings.
- Manage relationships of both ticket package accounts you sell as well as inherited accounts
- Document and track progress of relationships with prospects through CRM
- Must be available to work 19+ home games and other assigned events as well as normal office hours
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of all group and season ticket internal and external events
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Customer service and/or sales experience preferred
- Must be a self-starter and possess team building skills.
- Knowledge of the USL and soccer is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
