
The Charleston Fleet’s inaugural match against the Carolina Rapids on Saturday, June 3rd will be broadcast live on MyTV Charleston. The Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) match is the first game of a double-header featuring affiliate clubs, the Charleston Fleet and the Charleston Battery.
Kickoff for the Fleet match is scheduled for 4:00 PM, followed by Charleston Battery vs. Louisville City FC at 7:00 PM. Both matches will be played at MUSC Health Stadium and broadcast live in their entirety on MyTV Charleston and https://www.www.charlestonbattery.com. The WPSL match will be the first ever televised women’s soccer match played in Charleston.
“June 3rd is going to be a great day for us here at MUSC Health Stadium and this news adds to the excitement,” said Charleston Battery Chief Operating Officer Mike Kelleher. “The live broadcast of the women’s game will be another landmark moment at our stadium. We’re happy that we have the capabilities to make it possible and achieve another milestone in Charleston.”
The 2017 season is the Fleet’s first in the WPSL which is one of the largest women’s professional soccer leagues in the world. The Fleet are one of more than a hundred teams that will compete this summer for a chance to go to the final four in San Diego in July. Charleston will play ten matches in the Carolinas Region; all home games, apart from the inaugural match on June 3rd, will be played at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant.
