The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Charleston Battery goalkeeper Luis Zamudio was named to the league’s Week 24 Team of the Week.
The shot-stopper was stellar in the Battery’s 1-2 road win over Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Arturo Rodríguez and Rubio Rubín both garnered honorable mentions to the Team of the Week Bench for their goal-scoring performances against the Hounds.
Zamudio recorded two saves, five high claims, one punch and 14 recoveries. His two clutch saves proved to be decisive in the win, as both were on shots from inside the box. The goalkeeper also played a hand in the Battery’s first goal with a long ball over the top, igniting the pressure that led to Rubín’s equalizer.
The selection to the Team of the Week is Zamudio’s second of the year, and brings the Battery’s season total to 23.
Charleston’s next match will be home vs. Loudoun United FC on Sat., Aug. 23. Tickets for Back to School Night at Patriots Point are on sale now via SeatGeek.com, the club’s exclusive digital ticketing provider.
