The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Charleston Battery midfielder Houssou Landry was selected to the league’s Week 15 Team of the Week. It’s deserved honors for Houssou, who was involved in both of the Battery’s goals in the 1-2 win over Hartford Athletic while deputizing at left-back.
MD Myers garnered an honorable mention to the Team of the Week Bench after scoring for the second consecutive match.
Houssou was a true tour de force at Trinity Health Stadium. While not credited with an assist, Houssou’s perfect through ball to Myers enabled the Battery to open the scoring in the 7th minute. The Ivorian then took matters into his own hands with a stellar strike from the edge of the box in the 50th minute, which proved to be the match-winner. Houssou also tallied two tackles won, five clearances, three recoveries and seven duels won.
It is Houssou’s second occasion making the Team of the Week this year.
The Team of the Week selection brings the club’s 2025 total to 15.
Charleston’s next match will be away vs. Miami FC on Wed., June 18. The Battery are then back home on Sat., June 21, to host Phoenix Rising FC. Tickets for the rematch of the 2023 USL Championship Final, featuring post-match fireworks, are on sale now via SeatGeek.com, the club’s exclusive digital ticketing provider.
