The Charleston Battery are thrilled to partner with the Chuck Dennis Memorial Soccer Tournament, which will be held on Sat., June 8, at Patriots Point.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Charles Dennis Foundation, which provides financial assistance via scholarships to young athletes to help cover the costs of equipment, league fees and more. The financial assistance removes financial barriers and allows kids to pursue their dreams in sports.
The 5v5 tournament will run from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET, ahead of the Battery’s match against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at 7:30 p.m. the same day. Games will take place at Cheryll Woods Flowers Soccer Complex next to the Battery’s stadium at Patriots Point. Every participating player will receive a ticket to the Pittsburgh match.
Participating teams are guaranteed to play three games, which include two 12-minute halves. Teams will be comprised of five field players and no goalkeeper, with a maximum team size of eight players. It is open to all players (kids eight years and older and all adults). The top two teams will receive medals.
Registration is currently open and teams can save money by registering and paying by April 15. The final deadline to register is May 31.

To register, click on the division based on the birth year of your oldest player, for example, U8 will include 8-year-olds and younger. Each team can have up to 8 players.

- Team Roster: Each athlete on the team will sign a printed team roster at the registration table upon check-in.
- Waivers: Signed at the time of online registration and agreed upon by all athletes on the roster.

Q: I’m playing this weekend, what do I need to check in?
A: Players must check in 30 min prior to their first game. A printed team roster will be available at the registration table for each athlete to sign at the time your team checks in. Waivers are signed and agreed upon by all athletes at the time of online registration.
Q: Where do I fill out my player waiver?
A: Player waivers are completed at the time of online registration. All rostered athletes sign and agree to the waiver as a rostered player on a team.
Q: When will the team list be published?
A: Regular registration ends on May 31st. Bracelets and schedules will be released by Thursday evening the week of the tournament.

Q: How do you determine what teams get grouped together?
A: When you register, please properly indicate your age level, we will pair you with same age, or +/- 1 year with similar ability levels.
Q: What are the field dimensions?
A: Field Dimensions are 50Lx30W

A: Tournament rules can be found on the tournament’s Instagram page. Rules will be posted by registration and at the referee tent.
Q: What size are the goals?
A: We use 6×4 goals on all of our 5v5 fields
Q: How long are the games? How many games will I play?
A: Your team will play three games, with two 12-minute halves. The games are played inside 30-minute blocks to include a warm-up period and a quick half-time.
Q: When is the registration deadline? When is the last day I can register?
A: We encourage teams to register early with our Early Registration price ($50 in savings), which ends on April 15. Regular registration fees will be in effect through May 31.
Q: How many teams will I have in my division?
A: On average, we have 4-6 teams per bracket.
Q: What is the format? Will my team play a final?
A: 5 Team Brackets = 3 games, Championship Game for 1st and 2nd Place

Q: What is the rain-out/cancelation policy?
A: CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY: If the soccer tournament is canceled due to forces beyond our control including health hazards, inclement weather, etc. before the day of the tournament. In case of inclement weather day of the tournament, the Event Director reserves the right to reduce the number of scheduled games and/or the time of games and/or postpone or delay game times and/or cancel the event in which case partial refunds may or may not be issued. Every effort will be made to complete the games and the tournament. If teams drop out after the schedules are posted they will NOT receive a refund!
