The command in the midfield will continue as Robbie Crawford returns for 2021, pending league and federation approval. The Scottish midfielder will don the Black and Yellow for a second season after an impressive first campaign for the Battery.
Crawford was a box-to-box midfield engine in 2020, registering 1,484 minutes as one of four players appearing in all 17 matches last season. In 16 starts, Robbie was crucial to the Battery’s transitional play winning a team-leading 24 of 33 tackles while making 27 key passes and posting an impressive 84.3% passing accuracy. While Crawford excelled at pushing the ball forward for his teammates to score, Crawford also put 3 shots on goal and scored once.
Crawford’s distribution in 2020 exemplified his penchant for elevating the entire team’s play as he created 34 chances, second only to Zeiko Lewis. The dynamic duo, who previously played together for Icelandic side FH in 2018, will continue to be cornerstones of the Battery’s forward play in 2021.
