The attacking threat from the back line will continue in 2021 as Logan Gdula rejoins the Charleston roster for next season, pending league and federation approval. Complementing AJ Patterson on the wings, the outside back will look to ensure his dual-threat presence is felt even further in the 2021 season.
In his first season for the Black and Yellow, Gdula made 14 starts while putting up impressive numbers on both ends of the pitch. His excellent transition play was exemplified during the Battery’s 3-0 route of Atlanta United 2 on August 24 at Patriots Point. As Gdula pushed the ball forward, he combined with midfielder Robbie Crawford before sailing the cross perfectly to Nico Rittmeyer who headed it in for the goal. Logan would continue to perform through the month of August with a goal against The Miami FC and solid defensive play in the Battery’s first of three wins over the Tampa Bay Rowdies, earning him USL Team of the Week accolades.
Defensively, Gdula did not disappoint as he logged 22 interceptions, and 26 clearances in 1,233 minutes on the pitch. Looking ahead to next season, Gdula added, “I’m excited about getting back on the field and being able to play in front of our amazing fans!” With the 2021 roster coming together, Gdula’s presence on the back line continues what’s shaping up for another exciting new season in Charleston.
