Defender Temi Adesodun will return to the Battery for the 2021 season, pending league and federation approval. While making two appearances for the Battery last season, Adesodun is no stranger to Charleston fans as the defender played four years for the College of Charleston. He appeared alongside current teammates Leland Archer and Nico Rittmeyer during his 2015 freshman season and eventually captained the Cougars squad his senior year.
Through 20 minutes of play in 2020, Temi’s brief stints on the pitch made an impact. He was on the field as the Battery sealed their ninth Southern Derby cup in a 3-0 win against North Carolina FC on August 19. In the regular season finale, Adesodun was instrumental with the assist on Stavros Zarokostas’ go-ahead goal against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The win was the Battery’s third in a row against the Rowdies as Charleston as the only team to defeat the eventual Eastern Conference Champions (thrice) in 2020.
Along with the assist, Adesodun ended the year with one interception while winning 100% of his tackles. “I’m looking forward to being with the boys again and getting back to work,” Temi said. The former C of C defender is excited to continue his growth at the professional level as the Battery charge forward into the 2021 season.
