Charleston Battery midfielder Victor Mansaray was named to the USL Team of the Week after scoring the game winning-goal against North Carolina FC in Week 29.
After coming on as a substitute in the second half, Mansaray connected with a cross from Neveal Hackshaw to give the Battery a 1-0 lead in the 91st minute against NCFC. The Battery went on to win 2-0. The goal was Mansaray’s second of the season.
Following his impressive cameo performance, Mansaray earned a spot in the Battery’s starting XI Saturday night against Toronto FC II. Mansaray completed 92% of his passes in the match and nearly found the back of the net in the third minute with a stinging volley.
The Team of the Week honor is the first of Mansaray’s career. The Sierra Leone native is the tenth different Battery player to be honored this season.
Mansaray and the Battery return to action this Sunday, October 7 when they travel to take on Atlanta United 2 at Cool Ray Field.
