This week’s Blackbaud Nonprofit of the Match is H.O.P.E Acres Rescue, located in Summerville, South Carolina.
H.O.P.E Acres Rescue is a certified 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that provides equine rescue assistance statewide since 2010.The purpose of H.O.P.E. Acres Rescue is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a safe haven for equines in need, to live out a healthy, happy, and peaceful life through public education, county and state alliances, adoptions, donations and caring volunteers.
The organization cares for and rehabilitates horses on-site at their farm before sending them on to be adopted by an approved family. H.O.P.E Acres Rescue takes pride in personally overseeing care for each horse, as many as 24 at any given time.
The staff and board is comprised entirely of volunteers, nearly 300 to date. H.O.P.E Acres Rescue believes firmly in giving from your heart and that, in doing so, one receives a spiritual reward that reaches the soul, something that is not possible with monetary compensation alone.
H.O.P.E Acres Rescue currently has 13 rescues (12 horses and one donkey) in their care at a cost of $200/month. A donation of $5 feeds a rescue horse for one day. In 2016, the organization rehabilitated and placed 16 horses in forever homes.
