DANIEL ISLAND, SC – The Charleston Battery celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, making the club the longest continuously operating professional soccer team in America, and the first to reach the silver anniversary.
“Charleston Battery’s founder, Anthony Bakker, paved the way to bring a soccer team to Charleston twenty-five years ago, and we couldn’t be more thankful for his vision, passion and philanthropic efforts,” said Andrew Bell, Charleston Battery President.
The team will kick off the celebratory season on Saturday, March 25th with a bang. The match-up against FC Cincinnati at MUSC Health Stadium will feature t-shirt giveaways for the first 500 fans through the gates and $2.50 beers all night long. Following the game, a fireworks display will light up the night sky over the soccer field on Daniel Island.
“This season, we are looking forward to hosting a variety of interactive events and family-friendly promotions during each game,” said Bell. “Our goal is to amplify the experience for our fans on and off the pitch.”
The team will host sixteen home games, each with its own unique theme.
