The Charleston Battery announced on Friday an integrated partnership with Ethos Athletic Club. The health, fitness and lifestyle club located in downtown Charleston becomes the Battery’s preferred fitness partner and home to Battery players’ off-field strength and conditioning training programs.
“It is an honor to witness our home football club showcase their athletic skills and work ethic in our facility every day, and do so with a smile on their faces as well,” said Ethos Athletic Club’s founder Joey Welling. “Our members feed off of their energy and I believe it’s reciprocated.”
Since establishing their “born from resolve” concept in the midst of 2020, Ethos Athletic Club has provided a passionate culture and community for members to elevate their daily routines through strength, movement and mindset. They strive to provide an anywhere/anytime club mentality that attacks self-improvement both as physical and mental gain. When Ethos’ home facility opened in late 2021, the Battery proudly joined their active community, with players utilizing strength and conditioning programs at the club’s new Huger Street location.

“It’s just really obvious that Ethos has designed a place of top-tier facilities which has attracted a top-tier community. It’s exciting for us to be a part of that, and for us to be building that community with them,” said Hanna Gardner, head of sports science and performance for the Battery. “They have all the equipment you could possibly ask for and such a professional environment that is suited to our needs, fitting for professional soccer players in-season.”
In addition to utilizing Ethos’ strength and conditioning facilities, the players have the opportunity to take advantage of Ethos’ additional amenities. These include recovery at the club’s infrared saunas and steam rooms, and healthy refueling at the on-site cafe, Tres Palmas Acaí.
“The facility and community that Joey and his team have built at Ethos are incredible,” said Ryan Knapp, director of business development for the Battery. “We’re excited to be a part of the culture growing at Ethos, from supporting active lifestyles to being a gathering spot for Charlestonians of all backgrounds to come together around a common goal of promoting health and wellness.”
“The players are absolutely stoked to have a place to not only train, but also use on their recovery days from the sauna and steam rooms to stretching and rolling out. To have those facilities available to the players has been enormous,” Gardner said.
As the players continue their strength and conditioning regimen at Ethos throughout the year, the Battery look forward welcoming Ethos members out to Patriots Point for every match this season, as well as future collaborations with the club, including exclusive events for Ethos members, player meet and greets, and more.
