Juan David Torres enters his second season with the Black and Yellow.
Torres, 23, dazzled in his first season with the Battery and blossomed into a regular starter. The Colombian featured in 36 matches across all competitions, scoring eight goals and adding a team-best seven assists.
Torres quickly developed a reputation for his highlight-reel goals. His first came from the halfway line against FC Tulsa on April 20, a strike that also landed him on the SportsCenter Top 10 the following day. He led the USL Championship with six goals scored from outside the box in 2024, proving to be lethal from free kicks and in open play with any amount of space given to him. In league play, Torres also recorded 57 chances created, 31 successful dribbles, 15 interceptions, 16 tackles won and 92 duels won.
Additionally, Torres won Goal of the Week in Week 7 and was named Team of the Week in Week 22 and 23.
Torres arrived in Charleston after competing for South American giants Millonarios F.C. of the Categoría Primera A, Colombia’s top-flight league. The 5-7 winger helped Millonarios win the league title (Apertura phase) in 2023. He was initially signed following a successful trial during the 2024 preseason.
Known for his technical skills and field vision, Torres was signed to the Millonarios first team in early 2023 and featured in eight matches during the league campaign. He was elevated to the first team from the club’s U-20 squad.
A native of Barranquilla, Colombia, Torres’ journey with Charleston marked his first time playing professionally in the United States.
Torres was also a member of Corinthians’ U-20 team from 2019 to 2021, scoring three goals across 26 matches for the Brazilian side. Torres was selected for the Colombian U-20 national team in 2019 but did not feature in a match.
