2026 Charleston Battery Open Tryout
Do you have what it takes to represent the Lowcountry at the professional level? Now’s your chance to prove it. The Charleston Battery are holding an Open Tryout and First Team Academy Tryout (ages 15-19) for those interested in turning that dream into a reality.
Open Tryout
Date: Sunday, January 11, 2026
Time: 9am check-in | 10am start
A detailed schedule with arrival times will be sent to registered participants approximately one (1) week prior to the tryout.

SC Surf Soccer Fields Awendaw
5050 N Hwy 17, Awendaw, SC 29429
Registration Fee:
$130 per person*
Tryout Schedule & Format:
– Players will be divided into teams upon arrival and check-in.
– Each Participant/team will play two 45-minute halves with substitutions and a shortened halftime.
– Following the morning session, players will be given a two-hour break before the afternoon session begins.
– Schedule and format are subject to change based on player availability on the day of the tryout.
– Select players will be invited back to a closed-door second tryout day, which will be communicated directly by the staff.
Equipment/What to Bring:
– Please bring your own water and water bottles. These will not be provided.
– Bring your own shorts, socks, shin guards, gloves and training gear.
Bibs for each team and soccer balls for the matches will be provided.
Age Requirements:
All players must be 16 or older to participate
First Team Academy Tryout
Date: Friday, January 9, 2026
Time: 4pm check-in | 5pm start
A detailed schedule with arrival times will be sent to registered participants approximately one (1) week prior to the tryout.

Tryout Schedule & Format:
– Ages 15-19
– Players will be divided into teams upon arrival and check-in.
– Each Participant/team will play 2x45min halves with substitutions and a shortened halftime.
– Schedule and format are subject to change based on player availability on the day of the tryout.
– Tryout is for USL Academy contracts, which enable youth players to train and compete with the first team while preserving college eligibility. More details can be found on the USL website here.

All players must be between 15-19 years old to participate
Additional Details:
– Housing, permits/visas and travel are the participant’s responsibility and are not provided by the club.
– All sales are final. No refunds will be issued after payment.
– Only registered participants will gain entrance/have access to the fields for the Open Tryout sessions.
