The Charleston Battery announced a mutually beneficial partnership with the Daniel Island School’s Parent Teacher Association, Monday afternoon.
The partnership will help the Battery continue to develop relationships with fans on Daniel Island, the home of MUSC Health Stadium, while parents and students of Daniel Island School will leverage the partnership for fundraising opportunities, camps, season tickets, player appearances and other ventures.
Daniel Island School (DIS), located less than two miles from the Battery’s home stadium and training facility, serves more than 1,300 students in grades K-8. There are already established connections between the two organizations, many DIS families are already Charleston Battery fans, but the formal partnership will allow both to develop deeper ties.
“The Battery’s partnership with the DIS PTA was formed out of a desire to connect more with the community in our own backyard,” said Charleston Battery Vice President Mike Kelleher. “We feel the ideas we’ve set in place for the coming months will help us get to know the people of Daniel Island a little better and will help the PTA with some of their efforts.”
The proximity of DIS to MUSC Health Stadium makes certain aspects of the partnership feasible. One such endeavor is Battery clinics, open to DIS students only, on the school’s March and April early dismissal days. The mini camps will allow students a behind the scenes look at the Battery’s home stadium, the chance to get to know the team’s players and staff, and provide an introduction to the Battery’s summer camps program.
The Battery will also reward all DIS straight-A students with two tickets to the Club’s Kick off of Summer match against Toronto FC II on June 24th, during which they’ll be recognized on the field at halftime for their achievement.
The partnership begins March 1st with a PTA fundraising effort involving season tickets. More details to follow.
We hope to see DIS faculty, students, and families at our upcoming Carolina Challenge Cup on February 18, 22, and 25.
