Jarad van Schaik has been named to the USL Team of the Week following his two-goal performance against Nashville SC on Saturday night.
Van Schaik scored his first goal of the season in stunning fashion, striking a bouncing cross from O’Brian Woodbine and beating Matt Pickens high at the near post. The goal has been nominated for Goal of the Week honors with a fan vote taking place through Thursday afternoon.
Van Schaik would go on to score his second of the night on a brilliant free kick in the 73rd minute that struck the underside of the crossbar and bouncing over the line before coming back out into play. Van Schaik contributed on the defensive end as well winning 8 of 14 duels and making 4 recoveries.
Van Schaik is the third Battery player this season to be named to the USL Team of the Week joining Leland Archer (Week 5) and Zeiko Lewis (Week 2, reserves).
The Battery are back in action Saturday night against Memphis 901 FC at AutoZone Park. The official watch party will be held at the Three Lions Pub at MUSC Health Stadium. The Battery return home on May 4th to take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
