Miguel Berry selected to USLC Team of the Week for Week 28

The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Charleston Battery forward Miguel Berry was named to the league’s Week 28 Team of the Week.

Berry bagged his third brace of the year in the Battery’s 2-2 draw against Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday, continuing his hot summer form after being a nominee for the league’s August Player of the Month.

The first goal Berry scored was an immediate response to Birmingham’s opener and was pure hustle play. He capitalized on Birmingham’s error at the back and muscled Bryce Washington off the ball before firing in the equalizer at the near post. Berry’s second goal came seven minutes later and was a sublime strike to the top corner from just outside the box.

With this performance, Berry set a new career single-season high with nine goals scored across all competitions, surpassing his mark of eight in 2022 with Columbus Crew. The striker has flourished in the second half of the season and currently has nine goals and seven assists across all competitions.

It’s Berry’s third selection to the Team of the Week of the year, and it brings Charleston’s total to 20 Team of the Week/Round accolades in 2026.

Jeremy Kelly earned an honorable mention to the Team of the Week Bench after notching his league-leading eighth assist of the year.
