The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Charleston Battery players Derek Dodson and Tristan Trager were named to the league’s Week 27 Team of the Week. Robbie Crawford received an honorable mention by being named to the Team of the Week bench.
The duo played a crucial role in the Battery’s playoff-clinching victory over San Diego Loyal SC at Patriots Point.
Dodson made his presence felt on offense and defense and contributed the assist to Trager’s match-sealing goal in the second half. In addition to the helper, Dodson tallied six duels won, six recoveries, three clearances and three tackles won.
Trager scored a brace that made the difference in the 2-0 victory over the California club. Trager’s first goal came right before halftime and his second came shortly after the second half began. He additionally tallied two duels won, six recoveries and one chance created.
Crawford’s recognition was well-earned. He recorded match-highs with 10 duels won, three successful dribbles and four tackles won.
Dodson and Trager’s nods bring the Battery’s Team of the Week selections to 25 this year. It is Dodson’s fifth Team of the Week honor of the season and Trager’s first.
The Battery will look to build upon their three-match winning streak in their next game, on Sat., Sept. 16, against Loudoun United FC in Virginia.
