“Behind the Battery” highlight the people who operate behind the scenes to make the Battery successful on and off the field. In this short video series, we’ll take a look at the stories of those involved and their day to day routine with and around the team. We kick off the first installment with Bobby Weisenberger, the Battery’s Head Athletic Trainer.
Weisenberger completed his athletic training education at the College of Charleston before taking a job with MUSC as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Weisenberger celebrates his 10th year with the Battery after being named Head Athletic Trainer in 2010.
“I was always an athlete growing up and when you’re an athlete you pick up injuries so getting to spend my time in recovery with the athletic trainers and physical therapists, it looked like a really fun career path for me.”
Weisenberger is responsible for the primary care of the Battery players during training and games while making sure the players are in the best physical condition to perform during matches. “We monitor all of the players, we know how much time each player has played. We want to make sure that players who are getting those minutes are getting significant time to recover.”
