Charleston Battery will host Junior Academy, Goalkeeper Academy, and Tiny Tots this summer at MUSC Health Stadium.
Junior Academy and Tiny Tots are long-standing traditions at the Battery, but the Goalkeeper Academy is new to the fold this season. The Goalkeeper Academy will be under the direction of former Charleston Battery goalkeeper and current assistant coach Dusty Hudock. Hudock has a storied playing career that includes time with MLS teams and ranks second all-time in appearances for the Charleston Battery. He has been a member of the Battery coaching staff since 2009, helping the team to USL championships in 2010 and 2012.
Battery Head Coach Mike Anhaeuser and current Charleston Battery players will oversee the Junior Academy. The weekly sessions provide young players with the opportunity to receive individualized attention and direction from the hall of fame head coach and high-level professional players.
Members of the Junior and Goalkeeper Academies will train on Monday nights from 6:00pm – 8:00pm beginning on June 5th and running through August 14th (excluding July 3rd). Both Academies cost $275 and are open to youth players aged 7-15. The cost includes ten training sessions and an academy uniform.
Tiny Tots is an age-appropriate program for the area’s youngest players. The program is geared towards kids aged 3-6 and includes basic soccer skills, fun games, and facetime with current Battery players. This summer’s Tiny Tots sessions will be on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30pm-4:15pm beginning on June 7th and running through August 2nd (excluding July 5th). Tiny Tots costs $125 and includes eight training sessions and a tee-shirt.
