Houssou Landry enters his second season with the Black and Yellow after joining the club on a multi-year contract in January 2025.
The 25-year-old Ivorian midfielder was a true tour de force in his first campaign with the Battery, and his versatility saw him deployed as both a defensive midfielder and full-back.
Houssou was a mainstay for Charleston in 2025 and appeared in 35 matches across all competitions. Houssou scored four goals, including a stunner from the halfway line that landed No. 1 on the SportsCenter Top 10 the following morning.
Defensively, Houssou was among the USL Championship’s best. Houssou led the league with 46 tackles won and posted a team-high 149 duels won. He additionally registered 30 clearances, 31 interceptions, 19 chances created and a 88.1% passing accuracy.
Prior to Charleston, Houssou featured in 110 matches in the USL Championship with New Mexico United and Loudoun United FC.
Houssou was a mainstay for New Mexico in 2024, making 35 appearances across all competitions. Across the regular season and playoffs, Houssou led the team in tackles won (42), interceptions (47) and duels won (146). The midfielder also recorded one goal, one assist, 22 chances created and 33 clearances in Championship play.
Houssou played the bulk of his senior career with Loudoun, where he featured in 82 matches across all competitions from 2021 to 2023. The Ivorian was also called up to D.C. United and made his debut for the MLS side during the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
A native of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Houssou began his professional career with Ivorian top-division club ASI Abengourou. He scored seven goals and tallied 16 assists in 20 games during the 2019/20 season.
