The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Charleston Battery midfielder Chris Allan was named to the league’s Week 9 Team of the Week.
Allan played a strong 90-minute shift in the Battery’s 1-0 victory over Hartford Athletic on Saturday. The English midfielder contributed the assist in Nick Markanich’s match-winner and also recorded three duels won, two interceptions, two chances created, eight passes into the final third and 10 recoveries.
Goalkeeper Adam Grinwis earned an honorable mention on the Team of the Week Bench. The shot-stopper tallied four big saves en route to his league-best fifth shutout of the season.
It is Allan’s first appearance on the league’s Team of the Week in 2024.
Allan’s selection brings the Battery’s season total of Team of the Week nods to 14.
Charleston are home again on Wed., May 8, against South Georgia Tormenta FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Tickets start at only $9 and are on sale now via SeatGeek.com, the club’s exclusive digital ticketing provider.
