Charleston Battery defender, Kyle Nelson, was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for his performance against Atlanta United 2 on Sunday afternoon.
Entering his second year in Charleston, Nelson led the Battery backline to its first clean sheet of the year, playing 90 minutes in a 1-0 win. The 2019 Betsy McAdams Newcomer of the Year figured to see an increase in minutes, with the departure of Taylor Mueller, and is off to a fine start in 2020.
Stat Line: Won 12 of 19 duels, completed 5 of 6 tackles, and made 4 interceptions. The attacking back also finished with 2 key passes.
Nelson's tackle and interception numbers led the team and his 2 key passes finished just behind Zeiko Lewis for a team lead. Nelson and Charleston are back in action this Sunday against Birmingham Legion at BBVA Field.
