Charleston Battery player trials kick off this weekend – players from 22 countries represented
Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery player trials kick off this weekend at Blackbaud Stadium. 72 players have been invited in for the combine with 22 different nationalities represented. The games take place Friday afternoon and Saturday morning; all sessions are open to the public. UPDATE: Saturday's sessions cancelled due to the snow.
This is the eighth year that the Battery has held player trials. The Battery has consistently used its trials as a source for identifying new players and in recent years has signed numerous players from trials including – Tsuyoshi Yoshitake, Patrick Tate, Aaron King, Mike Richardson, Louie Rolko, David Kenga and Dominic Cianciarulo.
This year’s invites include players from 22 different countries including the US, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, Cuba, Ecuador, Gambia, Greece, Guatemala, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Japan, Liberia, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Panama, Portugal, Peru, Senegal &Venezuela

Season tickets are on sale now with packages starting at only $150. New this year all season ticket packages include tickets to the Carolina Challenge Cup featuring Major League Soccer.

Carolina Challenge Cup
The Charleston Battery kicks off 2010 with a pre-season tournament featuring MLS champions Real Salt Lake March 13 – 20 at Blackbaud Stadium. DC United and Toronto FC also make return visits to the round-robin tournament. All three MLS teams will spend the week in Charleston, SC, training between the games as they prepare for the start of the Major League Soccer season.
