Lewis, Trout & Wilson Return
Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery has agreed to terms with Andrew Lewis, Ryan Trout and John Wilson for the 2003 A-League season. All three were members of the 2002 Battery squad that compiled a best-ever regular season record of 19 wins, three losses and 6 ties. Wilson returns for his fourth season in Charleston, Trout returns for a third while Andrew Lewis is back for a second season.

Andrew Lewis
A five-year veteran of Major League Soccer and a former member of the U23 US Men’s National Team Lewis returns to the Battery for his second season. In 2002 as a member of the league-leading Battery defense, Lewis played and started 26 games amassing 2,402 minutes.
A native of New Providence, NJ, Lewis was drafted in the ninth round (17th overall) of the 1997 MLS expansion draft by the Chicago Fire. A three-year starter at Princeton (1993-1995), Lewis was a member of the Princeton team that advanced to the NCAA final four in 1993.
Ryan Trout
Trout returns to the Charleston Battery for his third professional season. 2002 was a break-out year for Trout; he scored 8 goals and added 5 assists for a total of 21 points. He recorded the only Battery hat-trick of 2002 with a three-goal night versus the Hampton Roads Mariners on July 3rd.
A native of Media, PA, Trout attended the University of Virginia where he was a two-time All-American and a finalist for both the Mac and Hermann Awards. Trout has National Team experience at the U-17, U20 and U23 levels.
John Wilson
John Wilson returns for his fourth season in a Battery uniform. In 2002 Wilson recorded a goal and an assist in 26 games played. Wilson began his professional career with the Battery in 1999 and then left for a one-year tenure with 2000 MLS Champions the Kansas City Wizards before returning in 2001.
A local soccer product, the Seneca, SC native had an outstanding college career at Clemson and was named All-ACC in 1997 and 1998. Wilson was voted Defender of the Year in 2002 by the Charleston Battery fans.
