Gavin Glinton joins Galaxy on loan
Charleston SC. Charleston Battery forward Gavin Glinton has joined Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy on loan until the end of the season and could feature this Saturday versus CD Chivas. The Los Angeles Galaxy are currently in last place in MLS’s Western Conference with three games remaining.

Glinton will be with the Galaxy on loan until December; the Galaxy has an option to purchase Glinton’s rights from the Battery in December once the loan period ends. Gavin Glinton is currently in the first year of a two-year contract with the USL First Division Battery.

Glinton had an impressive first season with the Charleston Battery scoring 13 goals in 29 games played. Glinton kicked off his Battery career by leading Charleston to victory in the season opener (04/29) with two goals versus the Virginia Beach Mariners; his 13 goals include 4 game-winners.

USL First Division Championship
After advancing past the Charleston Battery in last weekends USL First Division semifinal series the Rochester Raging Rhinos will host the Vancouver Whitecaps in Saturday’s Championship game at Paetek Park (FOX Soccer Channel, 7PM). Both sides feature former Battery players; Rochester’s squad includes John Ball (2001) and Chris Bagley (2003 – 2004) while Vancouver’s defense is anchored by Steve Klein (2002 – 2004).

Rochester advanced past Charleston with a 1-0 win in Rochester and a 0-0 tie in the deciding game played at Blackbaud Stadium; it was the Battery’s first playoff appearance since the 2003 season. Vancouver advanced to the Championship game with an aggregate score victory versus the regular season champions, the Montreal Impact.
