Aaron King named USL First Division Player of the Week
Charleston, SC. Charleston Battery forward Aaron King has been named the USL First Division Player of the Week following his outstanding performance during last Saturday night’s game versus the Montreal Impact. King was substituted into the game in 60th minute; he scored the game winner and also assisted on the third goal as the Battery won 3-1.
Aaron King is joined on the Team of the Week by Battery midfielder Ian Fuller who is also honored for his efforts during the game versus the Impact; Fuller scored Charleston’s first goal in the match.
This is King’s second season with the Battery; in 2007 he scored 4 goals with 1 assist in 27 games played. A native of Denver, CO, King, 24, was originally drafted by Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy's as a fourth-round pick (48th overall) in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft but switched to Colorado during pre-season.
Prior to turning pro, King was a four-year starter with NC State where he scored 29 goals and had 12 assists. He was named first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference for both the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
