Big South Championship kicks off Thursday – Coastal earns No.1 seed
Charleston, SC. – The Coastal Carolina women’s soccer team, has claimed its first-ever solo Big South regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in this week’s Big South Women’s Soccer Championship, which begins Thursday at Blackbaud Stadium. The Lady Chants’ best previous regular season finish was in 2003 sharing the first-place title with Liberty, and were last season’s No. 2 seed. Coastal Carolina finished the season with a 6-1-0 League mark for 18 points, in addition to a school-tying-record 13 overall wins and a school-record of nine shutouts.

Tournament host Charleston Southern and High Point tied for second place at 5-2-0 (15 points) after both teams posted wins Saturday night, with the Lady Bucs receiving the No. 2 seed due to its win over the Lady Panthers during the season. Last year’s regular season champion Winthrop is the No. 4 seed at 4-3-0 (12 points), while Liberty and Radford tied for fifth place at 3-4-0 (9 points). Liberty secures the fifth place seed due to its win over the Lady Highlanders earlier in the season.
