Chad Deering Retires
Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery will not have the services of former US Men’s National Team midfielder Chad Deering for the 2005 season. Deering has decided to retire from professional soccer and concentrate on his coaching career in his hometown of Plano, TX. The Charleston Battery has added a young prospect to its 2005 squad, rookie forward / midfielder Trey Alexander joins the Battery after an outstanding college career at Western Kentucky University.
Chad Deering,
"I wish the Charleston Battery, Mike Anhaeuser and all the staff at the Club all the best for the coming year. I'm sorry that I can't be there to enjoy the success that I am sure the team will have and hopefully they can bring home another title. I will be watching closely and I'm sure I will stay in touch with Coach Anhaeuser on a weekly basis."
Deering played six seasons in Major League Soccer, all with the Dallas Burn; he also enjoyed eight years in Germany. Deering has played 18 times for the US Men's National Team, scoring one goal with one assist.
