Battery v. Atlanta Silverbacks - 28 May 2005 Updated 06/02/2005
Chris once again comes through with his camera this week. Jacky only managed a few, and missed all the feckin fun up the Three Lions too. Photos Description
Some nondescript superultramegafan ensures 96Wave really support the Battery. Seen Cannonball Run? "And if they can't take a joke ... [gesture]"
Same said superultramegafan braves danger (we were spotted but eluded the bus driver..) to ensure that the Silverbacks celebrate their collective love for the Battery as well.
Our honoured guests who drove in from Atlanta with our .. ahem .. THE Southern Derby Cup. I can't remember the details of the bet Kevin and Jim made, but photos are below.
Regiment members Jim, Kim, Ismael and I (idiot with camera) join Angel, Jonathan, the Apesfans who drove in with the Southern Derby Cup from Atlanta and Bill and Julie who hauled ass in from Columbia at the pregame tailgate party. It was beauty, including the long obvious walk to the john. WAVE TO THE MAN PEEING, KIDS!
Ismael gets a sneak peek at the bottom of the Cup. Come 12 August, all the Battery supporters on the bus back from Atlanta will see this very same site. Join the Regiment for the away leg of the Southern Derby Cup Championship in Atlanta!! Details will be available at the Regiment table soon - stop by, buy a few tickets to win official Charleston Battery memorabilia and ask about the bus.
Members of the Regiment standing tall with E10 Underground. The noise was deafening, and Jim almost impaled the linesman on several occasions. It was mayhem - no bedlam! We'd like to think that the players appreciated the noise - come on boys, show us some love. Several fans stopped to thank us in the car park after the game ... at another tailgate baby, oh yeah.
Here are the Atlanta supporters with the Southern Derby Cup during the game.
Here's a game-time shot of the E10 section cheering, chanting, singing and panting during the game. Voices were lost, hands were drummed raw, but it was all worth it!
Chris is one hell of a cameraman to pull this one off. Chris, Jayne and daughter enjoying some quality family time up the Three Lions.
Ismael, Angel and friends hanging out up the Three Lions. Ismael was so sure that Clubo America would win the Mexican Championship, he bet some Tecos fans $15,000,000 on the match. Somehow I don't think he'll see them again since America won!
The pouring of the yard - something to do with the bet ... I bet.
Here's Jim and Kevin, standing together after the Battery tore the Apes defence apart. The bet was that the Battery would win, and the Apesfans would buy the yard of ale. I think. What follows is .. well, what followed.
Jim - Regiment President and yard of ale devirginiser.
Anthony taking his turn on the yard.
Here's Chris with another fancy camera shot - and his slug on the yard.
Sara having a go on the yard.
Kim and her opportunity to have a go ...
Helen jumps in and has a rip on the yard ...
Ismael takes a turn on the community yard ..
Young (but legal, har har) Ben has a go on the yard with proud papa looking on
You know I am an idiot, but I have no idea who this is. If I am not mistaken, he came with Ben and was active in chanting with the E10 underground. I never got his name, but sheeit, he jumped right on the yard as well.
Well, it looks like Mr. Camera Magic might have slogged a little too much on the yard! Yeah, sure we were impressed before, but this is just awwwful Chris!

Members of The Regiment and E10underground made enough noise for the entire stadium! It was great to witness the home leg victory of the Southern Derby Cup and we're already talking much crap about the trip to Apelanta to watch the lads reclaim the Cup in the dirtbox they call a pitch!
